01 / 05 — The office

An application the funder can score, and a fee you knew in advance.

Pemberton & Associates is a small grant-writing office on NW 94th Terrace in Sunrise. We write for nonprofits that have a program worth funding and nobody on staff whose job is the ask.

02 / 05 — Working habits

Most of this job is reading closely and keeping numbers honest.

  1. 2·A

    Rubric first

Every funder publishes how it scores. We write to that sheet, section by section, and say so in the margin of the draft so you can follow the logic.

  2. 2·B

    The budget is a sentence

A line in the budget with no sentence behind it gets questioned by reviewers. We write the budget narrative alongside the narrative, not afterward.

  3. 2·C

A different reader checks the packet

The person who wrote it does not run the compliance pass. Page limits, margins, file names, signatures: checked cold, against the solicitation.

  4. 2·D

    A two-day buffer

Portals go down on deadline day. Our calendar assumes it will, so the files are staged two days ahead.

03 / 05 — What we turn down

Four things we won’t do for you.

  • Percentage of the awardThe fee is fixed per application and agreed before work begins. Some funders disallow percentage pay, and it rewards the wrong thing.
  • Promise an outcomeFunders decide. We deliver a complete, compliant application written the way the rubric reads.
  • Write for a funder that won’t fitIf the solicitation excludes you, the go / no-go memo says so before you spend on a proposal.
  • Submit in your name without youAn authorized representative of your organization presses submit. We stage every file and can stay on the call.

04 / 05 — How an engagement runs

Terms, stated plainly.

The same terms apply to a $385 research brief and a $4,260 federal application. Full fee schedule on the services page.

Payment

Half to start, balance on delivery

One invoice for the application. Budget narrative and compliance review are inside the fee, not added to it.

Timing

Deadline inside 10 days adds 25%

Rush work moves other files. We say so up front, and we turn down a rush when the draft can’t be done well.

05 / 05 — Start

Send the solicitation. A flat fee comes back by the next business day.

Email the link, or call the office. If the deadline is close, say so in the first line.
